The problem
One engine was running hot and the owner was [in the UK] with a charter booked in [three weeks].
We found a failed raw water pump, perished hoses through the cooling circuit, and engine mounts corroded past their service life. The second engine was the same age, so we quoted both — doing one and leaving the other would have meant a second haul of the same work a season later.
Work done
- Raw water pumps, impellers and thermostats replaced on both engines
- Full cooling circuit re-hosed and labelled
- Eight engine mounts replaced, alignment reset
- Bay cleaned, bilge pumps and seacocks checked
- Oil and filter service on both engines and gearboxes
- [Two hour] sea trial, temperatures logged at cruise and full load
